The former LSU, Auburn, and Texas State quarterback brings extensive collegiate experience and a proven passing record to the United Football League.
Forever Athlete Management (FAM) proudly congratulates quarterback TJ Finley on signing with the Dallas Renegades of the United Football League (UFL), marking an exciting new chapter in his football career.
The Louisiana native brings experience from multiple collegiate programs, including LSU, Auburn, Texas State, Western Kentucky, and Georgia State. Known for his strong arm, imposing 6-foot-7 frame, and ability to lead an offense, Finley now looks to translate his collegiate experience into success at the professional level.
From Louisiana to SEC Football
Finley's football journey began at Ponchatoula High School in Louisiana, where he developed into one of the state's top quarterback prospects.
A three-year starter, Finley accumulated 58 passing touchdowns and 14 rushing touchdowns during his high school career. He earned Louisiana Class 5A All-State recognition in 2019 before committing to Louisiana State University (LSU).
Finley began his collegiate career at LSU in 2020, stepping into a starting role as a true freshman. Across five starts, he threw for 941 yards and five touchdowns.
In his first collegiate start against South Carolina, Finley completed 17 of 21 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score, helping lead the Tigers to victory.
Following his freshman season, Finley transferred to Auburn University, where he continued competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
During the 2021 season, he appeared in nine games and threw for 827 yards and six touchdowns. One of his notable performances came against Georgia State, when he helped engineer a late 98-yard game-winning drive.
A Breakout Season at Texas State
Finley's most productive collegiate season came in 2023 at Texas State University.
As the Bobcats' starting quarterback, he completed 67.4% of his passes for 3,439 yards and 24 touchdowns, while adding five rushing touchdowns.
His leadership helped Texas State finish with an 8-5 record and secure the program's first bowl appearance.
The season demonstrated Finley's ability to lead an offense, make plays through the air, and contribute to a program's continued growth.
Navigating Challenges and Continuing to Compete
Following his success at Texas State, Finley continued his collegiate career at Western Kentucky University in 2024.
He started the first three games before an injury interrupted his season. Despite the setback, he remained committed to continuing his football career.
Finley later joined Georgia State University, appearing in seven games during the 2025 season and recording 1,244 passing yards and six touchdowns.
Across his collegiate playing career through 2025, Finley accumulated:
7,372 passing yards
43 passing touchdowns
637 completed passes
41 games played
His journey through different programs and offensive systems provided opportunities to develop his adaptability, football knowledge, and experience against a range of competition.
A New Opportunity with the Dallas Renegades
Finley's signing with the Dallas Renegades represents an opportunity to continue pursuing his football goals at the professional level.
With experience competing in the SEC, Sun Belt Conference, and Conference USA, Finley brings a diverse collegiate background to Dallas.
His combination of size, passing ability, and experience offers a foundation as he prepares for the demands of professional football.
For Finley, this next chapter represents another opportunity to demonstrate his abilities, continue developing as a quarterback, and contribute to a professional organization.
