Betting on Yourself: Rob Carter Jr. Joins FAM Founder Damian Knight on Parallel Lives

The road to professional football rarely goes exactly as planned.
For FAM athlete Rob Carter Jr., his journey has taken him from UVA Wise to Robert Morris, through an NFL rookie minicamp, north to the CFL and ultimately back to an NFL opportunity.
Rob recently sat down with Forever Athlete Management Founder Damian Knight on Parallel Lives to talk about the decisions, setbacks and opportunities that shaped his career.
Betting on Himself
Coming out of high school, Rob didn’t have the recruiting attention many future professional athletes receive.
He began his college career at UVA Wise before making the decision to enter the transfer portal and continue his career at Robert Morris.
It was a risk, but one that helped change the direction of his football career.
At Robert Morris, Rob continued developing and eventually caught national attention with a viral one-handed interception against Utah State.
But one big play wasn’t the end of the story.
When One Door Closed
After college, Rob earned an opportunity with the Baltimore Ravens during rookie minicamp.
When that opportunity didn’t turn into a roster spot, he had another decision to make.
Instead of waiting for football to come back to him, Rob kept playing.
He joined the BC Lions in the CFL, where he put together an impressive 2025 season with 51 tackles and five interceptions, proving he could compete at the professional level.
That decision eventually helped open another NFL door when the Indianapolis Colts signed him to a reserve/future contract in January 2026.
More Than Football
During his conversation with Damian, Rob talks candidly about what it takes to keep going when the path in front of you looks different than the one you imagined.
The episode touches on perseverance, confidence, taking risks and continuing to believe in yourself when there are no guarantees.
That is what makes Rob’s journey bigger than football.
Every stop helped prepare him for the next opportunity.
